The Music’s Gonna Get You Through

The Music’s Gonna Get You Through explores pianist Henry Butler’s impact on a group of blind and visually impaired teens who gather in New Orleans one summer to train with the master at his week long Creative Music and Jazz camp.

Maamouri began editing the film back in 2004 when it was going to be a 30-min documentary about the camp.  After Katrina hit and the scope of the film changed, she returned to editing the newer hour-long feature for PBS.   The film received an ITVS LINCS award for broadcast on public television in partnership with station partner WLAE in New Orleans, where it premiered April 25th, 2010.

The film festival premiere for The Music’s Gonna Get You Through has not yet been set.  But it has begun airing on public television nationwide!  For listings, go to the ITVS site.

And in the interim, help us pay for music rights!!
