Sara Maamouri is an award-winning documentary film editor, writer, and producer born and raised in Tunisia and based in San Francisco. She has worked in the field for over 20 years on films that have premiered at TIFF, DOC NYC, Hot Docs, IDFA, and festivals across four continents.

Her passion lies in social justice storytelling and giving voice to underrepresented perspectives. She is a skilled collaborator at every stage of post-production, from early structure and paper edits through to picture lock, and has a particular interest in integrating animation into documentary work.

Sara edits fluently in Arabic, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, and Farsi, and works with filmmakers around the world on a freelance basis.

She began her career working on several Frontline documentaries and the Academy Award-nominated Promises, and has been building an internationally recognized body of work ever since.
